6 DON’Ts OF A FIRST DATE

Think of the first date like a job interview – because it really is a chance to get to know that person and for that person to get to know you and for you both to decide if you want to see each other again.

Here are some things to not do at your first date:

  1. Don’t show up late

Showing up late shows the person you’re meeting that you don’t respect them or the date. Keeping to time shows you’re organized, responsible, and capable of keeping commitments. If you’re going to be late, reach out ahead of time to inform them.

  1. Don’t lie on a first date

Some people lie about their age, job, income and so on. Telling lies on a first date can undercut your goal of actually getting to know the person. Being sincere, truthful, honest will make your date feel connected. You don’t have to lie to be a pity. But you can lie about something: your body count 😉 it’s no one’s business but yours.

  1. Getting stuck to your phone

If your phone is “bae”, your first date is also gonna be your last. Yeah, your bestie wants updates, but your lack of focus shows your date isn’t worth your time or attention.

Neglecting your date is a no-no. You should listen with your eyes and your ears. Being a good listener is a quality that others find super attractive. It also shows your date that you’re highly interested in getting to know them on a deeper level.

  1. Don’t talk about your past yet; unless your date asks

This is a common thing ladies do on their first date. We tend to talk about our past relationships with our exes. Nobody cares about your past relationships unless they ask. Even worse, never trash talk your ex on the first date. It makes you look bad even to someone you just met.

  1. Don’t constantly complain

Constant complaint on a first date is a major turn off that’ll have your date complaining about you to someone else. We all know it’s way more fun to be around someone who’s positive, happy and optimistic, than someone who’s negative, unhappy and pessimistic. This doesn’t take away your right to register your protest when you dislike something but the keyword here is constantly.

  1. Don’t look shabby to a date

Since it’s your first official date with this guy; don’t be like “I need to look natural so he’ll see the real me”.  Darling,  we know you’re beautiful on the inside but it’s the outside that your date sees first. You should look your best, put on your favourite dress, smell nice, do your hair, wear makeup if that’s your thing and wear good shoes. Remember, every date can be your first date.
